McLean School of Maryland

Grade 5 Wax Museum

The Fifth Grade Wax Museum is the culmination of their study of the American Revolutionary War era. As they study Colonial and Revolutionary history, each student also researches one American patriot in-depth. They write a report and then a speech about their patriot. During the process they share with one another and for the grand finale, they share with parents and other family members. On this day, they dress in clothes that are indicative of the period and recite their speech when their “button” is pushed by a visitor. They finish with refreshments and conversation, but just as the patriots did, they drink coffee or juice, but no tea.
