On Friday, March 14th, McLean School is holding our annual Jump Rope for Heart event to raise funds for the American Heart Association.
Jump Rope for Heart is a fun event that offers many benefits. The money our school raises will help fund potentially lifesaving research into heart disease and strokes. It will also fund the development of educational materials that teach the importance of heart health and staying fit. Our school also earns gift certificates for physical education equipment. Students in grades K-4 will participate during their regular scheduled PE classes.
Jump Rope for Heart will benefit our children, too. Besides being fun, it teaches jump rope skills and the importance of physical activity and community service. Depending on the amount of money collected, children will be eligible for a variety of thank-you gifts from the American Heart Association.
Family and friends are welcome to support students by making a contribution. However, we ask that children not ask strangers for donations. Checks should be made payable to the American Heart Association. Asking companies about matching gifts can increase donations, making the event more successful.
Please indicate the matched amounts on the Sponsor Form of the collection envelope and include a form from the company indicating the matching gift amount. Also, if you’re interested in collecting donations online, please see the attached form for instructions on how to do that.
The students very much look forward to this event each year. Last year we raised over $11,000, and this year our goal is to increase that amount. Please support our event! If you have any questions, please contact Heather Parker at hparker@mcleanschool.org or (301) 299-8277 ext.721.
