McLean School of Maryland

In My Own Words

Class of 2007

I started at McLean in Mrs. Genter and Mrs. Epstein’s grade 1 class. They are the kind of teachers you want to talk with over and over again. There is something about them … they cared about me. Mrs. Genter was one of the first teachers I personally told I’d been accepted into St. John’s College.

Ms. Levin, my Middle School English teacher, taught me pretty much everything I know about writing. All the things I write, and how I write is all because of Ms. Levin and her work.

I was never a confident kid. I was a big self-doubter. At McLean, all the teachers I know, they never gave up on me. I’m not sure I’d be attending St. John’s College if it weren’t for the support of McLean teachers.

All you do at St. John’s College is read, write and analyze. And, for someone whose parents were told years ago that I would never be able to write, it is a huge accomplishment. It is unbelievable for me!

The teachers want students to succeed.
